It is ideally placed for walkers and cyclists exploring the South Downs National Trail with footpaths to the Downs direct from the doorstop. We offer secure cycle storage and well behaved dogs are welcome. Professional people requiring a relaxing stay away from the bustle of business are equally welcome.We are Alison and Des and we've lived in Meadow Cottage for four years with our dogs, Poppy and Millie. We walk them across the Downs every day so have plenty of knowledge of local paths to share with you.Meadow Cottage is situated just a short walk from the centre of the village of Ditchling, your archetypal Sussex village and home to an artistic community founded by the artist Eric Gill, the renowned sculptor. It's also home to two popular country pubs, a tea room, restaurant, delicatessen full of organic local produce, newsagent and small independent shops selling jewellery, antiques and artwork. Other nearby attractions include Ditchling museum, Jack and Jill Windmills, the All England Jumping course at Hickstead, Plumpton Racecourse and Mid Sussex and Pycombe Golf courses. There are also numerous nature parks.Within easy reach are the cultural, cosmopolitan and eclectic delights of Brighton and the quirky and bohemian enchantments of Lewes along with Sussex University and the Amex Stadium. Horse riding, public swimming pools and of course the beach, are all easily accessible.Slightly further afield but still within thirty minutes are Glyndebourne and National Trust properties at Sheffield Park and Nymans along with Wakehurst Place (affiliated with Kew). Central London is just 55 minutes from Hassocks mainline train station.
